Afghan Youth Mock Islamic Prayer Ritual

This is what happens when religion is thrust down one’s throat by force feeding it in every aspect of a person’s private and public life. Here, a group of Afghan Muslim youth risk their lives as they mock the Islamic prayer ritual and then post it on the Internet.

To the scores of Muslims offended by this video, I say why are you angry? Shouldn’t you be angry that you pray to God five times a day without understanding one word of what you are saying in your supplication? That you’ve been reduced to parrot-like existence blindly following Arab pagan practices as if Allah has his ears shut to the billions who will never even indulge in what to them appears as yoga rituals?

Reflect on what I said instead of cursing me or sharpening your butcher’s knife like your Bangladesh assassins who kill at will in the name of Allah, the all Merciful.

    Sir

Your feelings are fine and it is true for every religion. when Hindus lost the reasons behinds rituals they also felt the heat by reformers, and even Atheist also came in and tried to mobilise people, may be with good intentions but they also moved away from their main reasons. Therefore I believe that one should not use mockery as a tool for reforming and the same is said by Geeta.

Nagesh ji, mockery of ritual is essential part of indian culture, be it chandogya upanishad where the inefficacy of mere rituals are mocked, be it kabir, dhaneshwar, mulla naseeruddin, ghalib or even the veda and even shankaracharya…
Its not hate but when charvak, jain, baudh, nastik, samkhyin, ajivika, yogi, adwaitin, dwaitin, bhedabhedvadi, mimamsak, nyayika, shaivas, vaishnava, smarta, shrauta, shakta, vaisheshik, etc mocked they were not spreading hate but we’re rational…
Will you call Mattavillas prahasan a hate play? Doesn’t the bharatanatyashastra (called 5th veda) declares … ‘from now on one can mock and ridicule any mat (thought)’
There are so many maulvi and pundit ji jokes in india… So I would say it’s not hate but just plain mockery…

    Respect to you, Tarek Fatah.
I agree absolutely with your words about prayer, violence & humour.
Thank you for having the courage yourself to post this.

Satire & humour are ideal tools to challenge or make a point about something – nobody ever died of laughing; nor does satire shed blood, break bones, maim, scar or kill anyone.

I salute this video, the makers of it, and all who share it.

Mr fatah sir ……. Salaam sir or hello whatever you prefer…..

As a pakistani i have always regretted tgat a gwm like u who should have been the president for life of our country who left us and left us to these a holes ( leaders ) …. but i agree with you on this …. i might have done the same as well …. but as many innocents who lost their lives bcz of partition i m no different …. my great grandfathr and others were brutally murdered by indians as well men and women …. we used to live near chandigargh but i dont even know of their bodies were buried or not …..

Sorry for the sob story , u wont believe it anyway , but sir i want to ask u that Namaz has nothing wrong in it …. so what if it resembles yoga if its not hurting anyone or insulting anyone …. nowhere in namaz we curse infidels or anyone at all ….

If ppl can sit in churches singing rhymes ( christians ) , or listen to a lecture in hebrew ( jews ) , or roll around on the ground and dive into a river that is extremely polluted ( no disrespect to ruver Ganges or hindu customs at all just stating what anyone might say ) , or just sit infront of a yourube recording camera and Curse their lungs off ( atheists ) ….. i respect all religions and atheists as if a person is reasonable and good and intelligent he / she should be respected regardless of religion or colour or race or even status as an enemy or ally…..

As a shiite muslim myself ( used to be atheist ) i know that bullshit is easily inserted into religion like marrying little girls ( loved your example of every MUSLIM man marrying a 40 year old woman BTW ) or injuring yourself in azadari instead of following in the teachings of Hussain …. i ve seen more corrupt shiites who have scares on their backs but no interest in the teachings ….

Incidently Hussain himself offered namaz when forces wanted his blood ….
NAMAZ IS NEITHER A PAGAN PRACTICE SIR NOR IT HURTS ANYONE …. ITS JUST A MAN OR WOMAN OFFERING PRAYERS AND NOTHKNG ELSE …. NO CURSING NO HITTING NO NOTHING ELSE ….and offering it hurts no one … though i agree forcing sm1 is bad

In the end sir u can call me an ISI fake id or taqiyya muslim or a Rectum …. as u please …. i ve heard worse.

Hope for your great health and that of your family

Wassalam or Khuda hafiz or Bye or Rab rakha or Namaste whichever u prefer

You didnt get the point. Did you? all what we are mentioning here is actions without knowledge. Nobody is questioning Praying. Namaz, Aarti, Carols, etc all are always pointed towards the almighty and his blessing on us mortals.

Point here is if we know about anything before following? You see, religion is all about faith. and in case of faith we generally believe without questioning. Thats where the whole scum pops up.

We have people in this world be it any religion who simply pray for the sake of it without even knowing what they are speaking. That itself is the seed for future disaster.

    Islam is an army
    Imams are commanders
    Muslims are soldiers
Mosque is place for preparing War (Jihad)
Islamic Prayer Namaz is a Physical drill

Namaz is call to muslims to kill non-believers,
then definitely it is bad to humanity. That too 5 times daily from more than 1 billion muslims–no wonder you see so much islamic terrorism.

@Surya What???? I despise Islamists but find your analogy inaccurate. Mosque can be a place to Link with God but Islamists have made it a place of hatred by teaching hatred and Murder.
      Read and Reflect.

An honest shepard was refused entry into the Mosque by an arrogant. Mullah. He did his namaz from the heart. He asked “ya Allah” why am I not allowed in this place of worship when I call to you from the heart? Allah appeared before him and said “My Child, I have not been welcomed there because of the arrogance and hatred therein, why should you be sadI have heard your prayers and bless You.”

In India and many places of the World since the death of the Prophet, Allah has not been present in the Mosques.

As a Hindu, God can appear in many forms, Indeed Shri RamaKrishna is said to have practiced Islam after self realizing the Mother “Kali” and experienced the Divine in the Form of Allah as well.

Mock not the Muslim or the Prophet. But give up not against the Evil of islamism. We have tolerated the intolerable in Hindustan for too long.

Indian Muslms and our other brothers in Bangladesh and Pakistan much chose. Pandavas or Kaurava ideas. Dharma or Adharma. 70 . years is long enough.

I am not a Muslim…but I find it disturbing to mock anyone about his/her religious practices. Most people never understand these rituals. They just do it.

But in one aspect, I agree with author that any Religious practice/ritual should never be forced. Hindus never forced anyone to follow a specific ritual.

But many people who see religion as a source of power. They see strength in powers and have an Unsubstantiated feeling that “My God is better than yours”. They are always keen to keep their herd in control and always looking out for new converts. They also look for observing “Purity of Ritual” . They show the tendency to force others. And yes, if somebody forces other to do something, they might ridicule it. Not in good taste … but what to do !
