Rula Jebreal is an Arab-Israeli journalist who was once a commentator for MSNBC.
Jebreal was born in Haifa, Israel, and grew up in East Jerusalem where her father was an imam and groundskeeper at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Her mother killed herself when she was 5. She and her sister Rania were put into the Dar El-Tifel orphanage by their father in 1978, until 1991.
She was educated in the orphanage, and then received a scholarship from the Italian government to study medicine at the University of Bologna, where she graduated with a degree in physiotherapy. She worked as a physiotherapist while she went back to the University of Bologna and earned her masters in Journalism and Political Science.
She did seem a bit unhinged.
She is not a Muslim unless she put the hijab, the main important requirement in Islam for females in whatever section of Islam she claimed she is from. She has to be covered from head to toe for men so they don’t get aroused by you as a female and commit sins to God. What a twisted stupid religion.I feel liberated the day I left Islam. Islamic teaching degrade female.
Why are you judging her faith based on her appearance alone? There are Muslim women who don’t wear the clothing which you described, yet at the same time, practice their faith.
Islam is not the monolithic religion where everyone practices the same thing even dress codes. Not all ‘sections’ of Islam requires women to wear head to toe. It depends in what Islam are you referring to. The ‘Islam’ you had learned from is different from other Muslim’s ‘Islam’ because the religious interpretation varies. You cannot simplify what Islam is based on your experience alone.
Based on your post alone, it seems that you are referring to orthodox Islam where male authorities and hadith interpretations have the main authority in the religious rules which this type of ‘Islam’ is problematic towards women.
Islam is NOT a religion of hate. All muslims don’t hate. Islam is a way of life. Muslims only practice their way of life that includes actions and a belief system that non-Muslims ‘infidels’ consider criminal, barbaric and ‘medieval’. Islam is a perfect virus designed by a brilliant programmer, that traps, infects and multiplies!
