Sadly, Dr. Hoodbhoy’s lamentations are a case of closing the barn after the horses have bolted. The education system in Pakistan has turned fundamentalist in nature. I doubt, if the “science” taught in Pakistani public schools is any different from what is taught in the madrassas.
The mullahs and their followers will continue to enjoy the fruits of science like cell-phones, computers, electricity, transportation but will shameless ascribe them to be the gifts from Allah. How does one counter such people?
