The Art of Living hosted a grand symphony of 1200 musicians playing sitar in Delhi, India, November 2008. This event set a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of sitarists performing together on one stage.
Brahm Naad, conceived by the Art of Living founder and spiritual guru, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, has the two-fold purpose of popularizing Indian classical music and epitomizing the unifying power of music to spread the message of peace and harmony.
The music for this enthralling sitar orchestra is based on ancient ragas from the Gandharva Veda, namely Raga Gara, Baageshri and Hansadhwani, which conceptualize the all encompassing love for the Divine.
Sitar exponents from Australia, USA, France, Abu Dhabi and almost all states across India, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi & NCR, among others, were part of this historic ensemble.

Thanks for sharing, Tarek.
I wish all South Asians would enrich themselves by strengthening their bond with their ancestral Indic philosophy and cultural heritage.
South Asians of all religious backgrounds can identify with the Vedas, the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, the teachings of Buddha, the Yoga Sutras, the Advaita philosophy of Adi Shankaracharya, Indian classical music and so on.
What a wonderful concert. Seeing women, men, Hindus, Sikkhs,( and I am sure many many Muslims too whom I could not recognize but are known fro the Musical talent in India) playing in harmony.
Why a nation like this had to be divided and even if it was once divided why it can not be allowed to live and prosper in peace?
Why we humans have to waste money on armies and not on science and development rather than on the silly superstitions and ridiculous religions of all kinds all over the world. We could all make music and learn and develop for the humankind? May it happen one day.
Tarek sir,
Salute to you… I know this event happened but never heard it…
