Mekaal Hasan Band’s tribute to Amrita Pritam’s ‘Waris Shah’, written by her as she fled her city of Lahore to the other side of the border and while her Punjab burned all around her to satisfy the ego of one man who had no stake in the aftermath of Partition that caused a million people to die and a historic land to be split into two.

    The artists pain is true and only other artists understand it so well.
    The nation did not have to be divided but for the opportunist Jinnah.
    May sense prevail in Pakistan and people revolt against the Military rule
    for the good of all in that nation.

      Thanks for the beautiful translation. I found many translation online but none that captured the essence so beautifully.

      Being a non Punjabi, I could not understand the song so well, thanks to you I do now.
