America, hold your nose and vote Trump – My column in today’s Toronto Sun

“A self-confessed lecher with a record of not being able to hold his tongue, Trump may very well sneak in as the next president of the United States. That’s because, as nasty as he is, presidential sexual escapades are not exactly unknown in the White House. For example, we all know about Marilyn and Monica, whose names are forever linked to two Democratic presidents most Americans admire.”

2016-11-02_06-14-36When the first roller coaster opened at Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York in 1884, it was meant to make one’s stomach churn as you went down 600 feet, before rising up to a platform and then returning via another carriage.

The 19th century American inventor of this ride, LaMarcus Adna Thompson, would marvel at some of the thrill-filled roller coaster rides in today’s amusement parks, but he could never have imagined the roller coaster that has become the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Not that dirty campaigns and character issues were unknown in 1884.

In fact, the presidential election held on Nov. 4 of that year that elected New York Democratic Governor Grover Cleveland, was bested by controversy over the character of his Republican opponent, Senator James G. Blaine.

Just as the 2016 election has come down to character and integrity versus policy and programs, in 1884, Republican Blaine fought under the shadow of the “Mulligan letters”.

They were discovered by Boston bookkeeper James Mulligan in 1876, showing Blaine had sold his influence in Congress to various businesses.

A week from now we’ll know whether the latest scandal to hit Hillary Clinton — her amateur hour performance as U.S. secretary of state with classified emails — was enough to make her stumble in the final mad dash of the marathon presidential election campaign.

Added to that are allegations she traded access to the state department in exchange for millions of dollars donated to her Clinton Foundation by Saudi Arabia and other dictatorships.

Notwithstanding Clinton’s woes, her opponent, Donald Trump, is no knight in shining armour.
A self-confessed lecher with a record of not being able to hold his tongue, Trump may very well sneak in as the next president of the United States.

That’s because, as nasty as he is, presidential sexual escapades are not exactly unknown in the White House.

(For example, we all know about Marilyn and Monica, whose names are forever linked to two Democratic presidents most Americans admire).

If Trump wins it will be a nightmare for the American political establishment — in both parties — who feel they have a God-given entitlement to the corridors of power.

Just two weeks ago Trump was considered toast, with down-ticket Republicans distancing themselves from the man whose audio recordings would have sunk even the Titanic.

But today, Trump and Clinton are neck-and-neck, mainly because of two odd props in the year-long presidential drama that have sent the 2016 roller coaster into an unknown dark tunnel.

They are Clinton’s close, Saudi-raised aide, Huma Abedin, and her now estranged husband, former congressman Anthony Weiner, best known for sending pictures of his private parts to women, as well as allegedly sexting underage girls.

While Republicans were trying to point out the links between Abedin and a Saudi Islamist journal she co-edited for many years, it was her husband’s sexts that led to the discovery of thousands of emails possibly relevant to the Clinton case on a computer he shared with his wife.

It’s outrageous that emails that may have contained classified information could have ended up on the computer of a man who was allegedly luring underage girls for fantasy sex.

On Nov. 8, let this roller coaster come to a standstill, America.

Hold your nose and vote for Trump.

Let Hillary play with Bill amid the wealth they collected in the name of charity.

You’re out of your mind! Trump does not have the temperament, intelligence or morality to be president.

Him having the nuclear code would be a serious threat to human survival.

As clueless and duplicitous as the liberal left is about Islamism, never the less there may be a growing sense of reality about its threat.

It would be easier to fix liberalism than to take a sociopath and try to get anything positive out of him.

His treasonous ties to the Russian kleptocracy should make his basic loyalty to the democratic world suspect.

His cavalier, willful ignorance relative to any environmental concern would put environmental survival at risk.

Any psychologically aware person can see all the personality traits of the demagogue and dictator that unite Trump with Mussolini, Hitler and other criminals: the idea that he himself is the answer, not ideas that he holds, a petty vengeful attitude towards anyone who opposes him and his exploitation of genuine grievances by pointing out scapegoats for pillaging.

Trump would run, possibly, the most corrupt administration in US history and is one of the most ignorant contestants for the office we have ever had.i

However bad and corrupt Clinton is, at least we know her “parameters”, range of her capabilities; within that, we know all about her dodgy sordid shenanigans since 1992. I don’t think you’ll find many Dems who won’t readily acknowledge her deviant propensities; it is no secret. Personally for me either candidate is not qualified to garner my vote for any selection doesn’t represent a binary choice; as someone wise has suggested that it’s like having to choose a crap sandwich, either on rye or white bread…that. just about sums it up for me. Being a life long Laissez-faire conservative Trump does not instill any confidence in me for he has proposed for an even bigger government, and on foreign policy he likes fortress America, non-intervention stance world wide-conservative he ain’t.

In fact it’s my contention that in the long run the harm done to our two-party system if Trump prevails this Tuesday would be considerably more; for us conservatives will have no more home in the Republican Party. It would be like having both parties committed to an all intrusive Administrative-state. This would be very bad for the future of our Republic. Hillary, if elected would have extended Obama’s third term and will surely go down after a single term in the Oval office; which in my humble opinion definitely would be a lesser of tow evils. Yes she will be damaging, but will be contained by the Republican House of representative, at least, if not by both the House and the Senate, where Republicans currently have a narrow majority, may end up holding after all. The opposition is sure to scuttle bush any of her grandiose schemes from ever becoming reality. On the other hand, by awarding the Whitehouse to Trump will result in a bitter battle cum civil war which may last many years to come, might even be a decade-long between the conservatives and the Trumpkins.

Trump, is the most ignoramus contenders for the highest office anyone has seen at least in the last fifty years. An inarticulate huxter, with the most pedestrian language to boot, and disgusting penchant for adoring power which is so not consistent with our representative form of Republic, where power by design by the founding fathers is decidedly diffused between Federal, Staes, County, and City governments and still more between the three branches. Above all, groping women…because he is a “star”…they let him? A guy who as recently as five years ago was an adamant pro-choice? Are you kidding me? It’s time to break the glass.

The answer for me: America, none of the above. For this too will send a resounding message to the polity: “Look what have you done? Out of so many millions, most eligible, decent, learned, sages, respectable, honorable, and gifted and you give us what?

Plain speak and telling things as it is is so difficult for many people to accept – any lie dished out in beautiful phrases and jargons is swallowed easily, and then yoo call Trump dumb and unintelligent !
