Facebook puts me back in prison

What’s up with Facebook?

2014 ends for me almost the same way as it began—banishment from Facebook.

Five times this year, the social network that provides a safe environment to, among others, hatemongers, escort services, radical jihadists, White supremacists, has found me in violation of ‘community standards’.

Ironically, the latest infringement of ‘community standards’ that I am accused of having violated was the posting of a video I found on Facebook, where it still exists.

The video from October shows an Australian teen exploding into an anti-Black racist rant on a Brisbane train. As long as the Australian teen was seen as a White man hurling racist slurs against a Black immigrant, Facebook saw nothing wrong with the video.

My fault was that I identified the man not as a White Caucasian racist, but a 17-year old Arab-Australian teen Abdel-Kader Boumzar.

Within hours, I received a notice from Facebook saying:

Facebook Notice

Soon after the racist video was posted a Facebook page was set up to locate the man behind the tirade, gaining hundreds of followers within hours and triggering a strong backlash from the country’s prime minister to ordinary Australians.

Both teens were located, charged and released on bail. However, Boumzar has been re-arrested for violating the terms of his bail.

Australian rapper Fortafy also shared the video, condemning the attack. Within hours it had been shared almost 10,000 times. At last count Fortafy’s page on Facebook is still standing while mine isn’t.

Which begs the question. Who in Facebook has made the decision to censor me five times in 2014 and why? How is my campaign against Islamism and anti-Black racism among Arabs, Iranians and Pakistanis seen as being against community standards?

The irony is that while I have been suspended from Facebook for 30 days for posting that video, the said video is still on Facebook. Check it here. And if that were not enough, Facebook did not deem it fit to suspend the page of the offender Abdel-Kader Boumzar. With a gun pointing to his head, he is on Facebook in full glory while the person who criticized him for his racism is suspended.

In 2012 Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg came out against bills in the United States that several groups said may censor the Internet.

He said in a post on his Facebook account:

“The Internet is the most powerful tool we have for creating a more open and connected world. We can’t let poorly thought out laws get in the way of the internet’s development” .

Could it be Zuckerberg’s visit to China has made him see eye-to-eye with the ogres who control a one-party state? Which other country will inspire him? Saudi Arabia? Is he fashioning himself as the new Mao or the new Ibn Saud?

How much time and energy have you spent on Facebook? Guess what? It was all a waste.
Facebook isn’t your friend. It only wants to suck your private data and sell it. They have no principles other than how much they can make off you. Now is the time to flee the ZuckerBeast before it’s too late. Cancel your account and never return, and find better saner safer social media such as LinkedIn and Google+.

My guess is, your account is suspended because you identified a specific person without his consent. And that put him in danger of reprisal attacks. While his rant was reprehensible, he did not threaten a specific person, so he stays. I don’t see Zuckerberg as some kind of savior of human race to begin with. And this does not make me wonder if he is turning into Mao or Saud. FB just wants to make money and for that, needs to keep its notoriety within limits. Again, just my guess.
