I am an Indian and have lived in USA for 6 years as a software consultant. Fitness is my hobby. As a member of a fitness gym, I happen to meet one American Soldier in YMCA New Jersey who served in the American Kuwait war. He has visited Saudi Arabia many times . This is what he told me 10 years back ” The Saudis do not have the guts to convict any American for Blasphemy. They can only do it to their own poor citizens” .

We Westeners really have a problem what goes on in Saudi Arabia. Having passed times of Inquisition and wars between Catholics and Protestants, we finally have granted everybody the right to believe or to disbelieve whatever he or she considers to be in line with a realistic and individualistic approach to any wordly or religious controversy. We do not understgand that any government should be entitled to tell its inhabitants what to believe, think, fear, or enjoy. Thinking is an individual right that no government has the right or even the power to control. I grant everybody the right to believe or disbelieve what he or she considers appropriate, but not governement in the world should tell me what I should believe or disbelieve, as anything is possible and I and nobody else should decide what is probable.aNYHOW, 1000 lashes carried out in public would never change the mind of the one receiving them, as the mind rules always over any matter!
