   They said that the King has 30 wives and 40 childern , don’t know how the other childern would be doing. These childern may be victim of jealousy between King’s various wives or something of that sort .When the King will have the time to think about these girls. In India Moghul kings had hundreds of wives and children and with so many childern the power struggle between the various contenders was immense and they prince used to slaughter other prince for acquiring the thorn.

   Your theory is nonsense, Rajeev. The princesses themselves say they are hostages and that their father said “let your mum come back” when they asked him why they are kept imprisoned. Their treatment got worse when their mother spoke to the media. Most likely King Abdullah wants this particular ex-wife to return to Saudi Arabia so that she can be victimized.

   Gender apartheid describes the treatment of women in the public sphere in Saudi Arabia, but when it comes to “private matters”, as the embassy described the situation of these sisters, things are much worse. “Guardianship totalitarianism” is a more accurate name for it. Each male head of household can be an absolute dictator to his abject subjects, can even kill them with impunity. I don’t know if there are any legal restraints on guardians, but it is very easy to circumvent those when you can cut off your victims from the outside world.
