Child marriage is a problem w/ the poorer level of the society. Almost inexistant in few parts of India still has it’s roots well imbeded in Rajasthan & MP. Yesterday, when I visited my paternal village, I came to know about registering/fixing the marriage at a certain price in the tribes.
A 16 year old boy Shankar got his marriage unofficially fixed w/ a local girl. It’s not only an Islamic problem but widely presist in different religious societies throughout the South Asian subcontinent.
Nishant, while in India child marriage is a cultural and social issue, in Islam it has support of the religion, because the prophet when 53 married a 6 year old child.
appalling manipulation and abuse of children…i was wondering when they would get around to the “elephant in the room” (rape of children by adult “men”) but finally the lawyer belled the proverbial cat and asked the child about “intercourse”… these interviewers can’t be serious people, asking absurd and insulting questions like “you must have agreed because you were happy about the wedding dress”. and so on. what utter criminal nonsense. is he being ironic when he asks this absurd and cruel question or is he seriously suggesting that tricking a child with sparkly gew gaws makes it ok to rape her?
appalling…highly refined state and religion sanctioned victim blaming…appalling
